2011 will be an ideal time to visit the Southwest US. In fact, during Spring of 2011, weather will be ideal for a little retreat from the snow and ice in other states. Once summer comes along, you can enjoy the higher elevations. Here are some great incentives to get you to come to the Southwest.
Spring Training in Arizona: If you love baseball, this is the best way to see the players up close and personal. Spring training in the Valley of the Sun and in Tucson draws visitors every year. They call it the Cactus League. To me, this is how baseball should be. Ball parks are small, you can even sit on the grass to watch and the players are usually available to give autographs.
Play Cowboy in the Desert: Arizona dude ranches are busy places in the winter and spring. You can ride a trusty trail horse out into a Saguaro-filled desert or sit around a campfire and enjoy dinner served from a chuckwagon. More on Arizona Dude Ranches.
Shop at the famous Santa Fe Indian Market:
Many people come to Indian Market for a day or just for the weekend. But, Santa Fe Indian Market is just the culmination of a week-long love fest with the arts. Enjoy the Santa Fe Indian Market
Visit the People and Pueblos of New Mexico: When people visit New Mexico, they often want to know more about the pueblos, the people and the arts. However, visiting pueblos is not all that easy. Some are closed to the general public and many have a visitors center where you need to check in to find out where you can visit and if you are allowed to take photos. Learn about visiting the pueblos.
I've put together a series of articles that will entice you to visit the American Southwest. From cactus forests to romance in historic Santa Fe, we have some fascinating articles to get you started on your 2011 travel planning.
