Jerome Arizona hosts September Art Walk

Sedona artist Susan Pitcairn will be signing her new book titled “Spirit of the Earth” during the September 7th Art Walk at Gallery 527 in Jerome
Jerome Art Walk continues its momentum on September 7th with its First Saturday celebration of art. Twenty-five galleries and studios will be open from 5:00 to 8:00 PM with art, music and refreshments. This free event has become a Verde Valley favorite with a shuttle that will transport you from the artist filled Old Jerome High School, up to the center of town with The Lincoln Gallery and Made in Jerome Pottery and everything in-between. The post holiday weekend is the perfect time to enjoy late night dinner hours at Jerome’s great restaurants or even spend the night.

Mayan jewelry, finely crafted bracelets, necklaces, earrings and rings rich in color and design are handcrafted by Mayan women in the village of Santiago Atitlan, Guatemala. Using a combination of the finest crystals and beads, these 250 women have created works of art. In this cottage industry, artisans work daily in small groups enjoying social interaction that provides the women with above average earnings, greatly improving their lives and that of their families without compromising tradition or cultural heritage. Their business is one of the most successful small industries in Guatemala. If you love color, you'll want to own this amazing jewelry which is now available at Casa Latina located in the Merchants Gathering Building. Great music by artist Duane Ewing.

Cody has been a busy bee this summer. Having recently returned from teaching a successful workshop in Idaho, Cody has been hard at work back in the Studio, wrapping up commissions. He just completed two new major Grand Canyon canvases. Stop in and see what's new on Cody's easel now. Live music and refreshments. Poetry and painting? Do they go together? "They most certainly do," says Susan Pitcairn, author of the newly-released "Spirit of the Earth," 185 full color pages of her lifetime-best paintings and poems. Pitcairn will read selections from the book and sign copies at Gallery 527 in Jerome at the popular First Saturday Art Walk, September 7 from 5-8 pm. Her synthesis of the two art forms reveals a deeply spiritual vision of nature where trees speak of the interconnectedness of heaven and earth and mountains teach strength and endurance. Gallery 527 is home to some of Northern Arizona’s most talented artists. Emerging artist Anjanet Mora has just joined the group with her impressionistic acrylic paintings. Visit Gallery 527 for a festive night on September 7th from 5 to 8 pm or every day from 11 to 5. For more information on Jerome Art Walk, contact Donna at 928.649.2277.
