Conde Nast dubs Santa Fe the #2 best destination in the U.S.

Everyone knows I love Santa Fe, New Mexico. And so do the readers of Condé Nast Traveler.

Santa Fe was recognized as the #2 top city in the United States, with a score of 81.2 according to Condé Nast Traveler’s 26th annual Readers’ Choice Awards, ranking the best cities, islands, cruise lines, airlines, hotels and resorts in the world.

The destination rose two spots from the #4 position the city held last year and once again beat out cities much larger in size, including New York City, Chicago and San Francisco.

With a range of incredible hotel properties, it’s no surprise a cluster of properties were ranked among the Top 10 Hotels in the Southwest, including the below:

  • #1 Inn of the Five Graces, Santa Fe 93.7
  • #2 Rosewood Inn of the Anasazi, Santa Fe 93.3
  • #5 Inn and Spa at Loretto, Santa Fe 86.8
  • #6 Four Seasons Resort Rancho Encantado, Santa Fe 85.7
  • #8 Inn on the Alameda, Santa Fe 83.3
Additionally, La Posada de Santa Fe Resort & Spa was recognized as #19 in the ranking of Top 25 Resorts in the Southwest, with a reader’s rating choice score of 84.1.

The Top 10 Cities in the United States in the 2013 Condé Nast Readers Choice Awards are:

  1. Charleston, SC
  2. Santa Fe, NM
  3. San Francisco, CA
  4. Honolulu, HI
  5. Chicago, IL
  6. Carmel, CA
  7. New Orleans, LA
  8. New York, NY
  9. Savannah, GA
  10. Napa, CA
This year, Condé Nast Traveler had a record-breaking 79,268 readers participate in the survey, close to double the number of survey takers in 2012. These dedicated and discerning travelers cast 1.3 million votes for more than 16,000 properties around the world. The Readers’ Choice Awards are announced in the November issue of Condé Nast Traveler.
