A couple of days ago a newly retired friend and I decided to take an ultra relaxing trip, do some photography and just savor life. We were pleased to be able to travel the rails along the Verde River on the Verde Canyon Railway.
Traveling along at speeds in excess of 12 mph, the train took us along the river, through beautiful canyons and over trestles. We could have just relaxed the whole trip as we were comfortably seated in one of the first class coaches, but nooooo we are avid photographers and were on the lookout for EAGLES. And we were rewarded. First we saw "Black and Decker," a pair of resident eagles. And next we saw eagles circling high above a canyon, some of them the migratory Golden Eagles and Bald Eagles.
That was exciting, and the views of the once raging river were exciting. But most of all we enjoyed the low key aspects of the trip and toasted my friends' retirement with a fantastic specialty Margarita. Salud!
