The Seasonal Table is a new series at the Desert Botanical Garden featuring a four-course dinner of fresh, locally sourced seasonal cuisine with wine pairings.  Each dinner will be held in a special Garden location chosen for its beauty.  Upon arrival to the dinner venue, guests will enjoy a welcome drink and hors d’oeuvres. While seated at extended harvest tables, guests will experience a four-course dinner that will incorporate the freshest, seasonal, and locally sourced ingredients.

These dinners will be enjoyed in the elegant ambience of the various Garden venues. Learn the story behind your meal from Matthew Taylor, Executive Chef at the Garden’s own Gertrude’s, and how your wine compliments each course from knowledgeable winery representatives.

Dale Chihuly Returns to the Desert Botanical Garden - November 2013 Details and Photos

Several years ago glass artist, Dale Chihuly did a magnificent installation at the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix. I was fortunate to have witnessed some of the preparations and visited the gardens several times to photograph the installation. So I was very pleased to hear that he is returning with a new installation.

The Desert Botanical Garden has announced that Dale Chihuly will be returning to the Desert Botanical Garden with a stunning exhibition of his extraordinary works of art.

The upcoming exhibition, Chihuly in the Garden, will include multiple installation sites featuring his unique works of art located along the Garden’s trails.  The exhibition will open to the public November 10, 2013 and remain until May 18, 2014.

Chihuly is credited with revolutionizing the Studio Glass movement and elevating the perception of the glass medium from the realm of craft to fine art.  He is renowned for his ambitious architectural installations around the world, in historic cities, museums and gardens. Chihuly’s work is included in more than 200 museum collections worldwide including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Smithsonian American Art Museum and the Corning Museum of Glass. Major exhibitions include Chihuly Over Venice (1995-96), Chihuly in the Light of Jerusalem (1999), Garden Cycle (2001–12), de Young Museum in San Francisco (2008), the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (2011) and Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Richmond (2012). Chihuly Garden and Glass opened at Seattle Center in 2012.

“Anticipation is so high around the Garden as we wait to see what magic Dale Chihuly will bring this time,” said Ken Schutz, the Dr. William Huizingh executive director.  “Last time we were amazed by the textures, colors and patterns of the art and how it seemed to exist side-by-side with the living plant collection.  We had a tremendous community response with record attendance and the feedback from our guests was unanimous, ‘We want more!’”

Chihuly in the Garden is presented by JPMorgan Chase.  Additional sponsors include APS, sponsoring Chihuly at Night (the 4 – 8 p.m. time slot) and Act One Foundation.
